currently/introductions

Did you know today is not, in fact, Wednesday, but is actually Thursday?? I definitely missed an entire day of the week yesterday and thought it was Tuesday until this morning. I'm not sure how that happened. It's got something to do with my big announcement that will be coming soon, and the preparations it's taking to get ready.

And the fact that we adopted another dog yesterday. Because there wasn't enough action and change in our lives already.

And no, the announcement isn't a baby. That's a long way away for us.

We didn't realize how big he was until we got him home. He's huge. And now Daisy looks tiny.

SMELLING |  Drew is not a fan of traditional fall scents, and my allergies and migraines make some scents just a terrible awful no good very bad idea. I've been searching for a cozy scent that met both of our needs, and I finally found the perfect one--Glade's Woodside Library. It's been in our wax burner for a week and we are both loving it. And it smells cozy enough for fall.

LOVING |  Our newest addition, Lincoln the Great Dane/Lab mix. He's on a two week foster-to-adopt plan with us, because at first Daisy was pretty hesitant about him despite him instantly being in love with her. It was kind of like a guy saying, "I love you" on the first date...she just wasn't ready for that level of commitment. With the exception of one incident over food this morning, they've been getting along so much better at our house than they did at the shelter. I think there was just way too much going on there for Daisy to get comfortable. But Lincoln already feels like part of the family. Funny story behind his name: We watch a lot of Prison Break, and we named him after the main character because he was a death row dog at another shelter before he got rescued by the no-kill shelter we adopted from.

My two gentle giants.

PLANNING | Life. There's a lot happening and I'm excited about it all, but it's also kind of crazy so we have a lot to do. Plus a honeymoon take 2 in January since I was still sick on our real one.

BAKING | Strawberry Peaches and Cream pound cake. I made it while we were at the beach with my parents last weekend to go with a meal my dad and I made together, and it was amazing. Fresh fruit from the Charleston farmer's market made it absolutely divine.

CELEBRATING | My parents' 26th anniversary today! And upcoming really good changes in our lives, and fall. We just like to celebrate life in general.
Now I want you to meet some of the lovely ladies who were on my sidebar for the whole month of September. This post was supposed to go up last week but due to some of the insanity it got pushed back, and they were beyond understanding. I love them and you will too.

What is your absolute favorite thing to do in the fall, and the best thing to eat while you're doing it?
My favorite thing to do in fall is curl up on the couch and snuggle with my Husband and baby girl. Boring I know. I love being able to drink hot coffee, I do iced during the summer. Love boots, scarves, and all the warm clothes it brings!

What is your absolute favorite thing to do in the fall, and the best thing to eat while you're doing it?
I've only recently started to appreciate fall, so I love the crisp evening air and wearing scarves for a good reason. I love watching the season arrive, and I love the coziness of spice and caramel. To eat… I'm all about corn. Is that a fall thing? I'm not sure. But I absolutely love corn on the cob.

What is your absolute favorite thing to do in the fall, and the best thing to eat while you're doing it?
Ah! Such a hard question for me because I absolutely love everything about the fall! I guess my best memories of the fall take place while taking a walk with loved ones, with warm drink in hand and warm clothes on body! There is just something about walks in the fall with family and friends, and just being outside while the world is painted every warm color. What do I like to eat while doing it? I absolutely love pumpkin baked goods! I had this pumpkin cupcake the other day from a local bakeshop and THAT immediately took over as my favorite fall treat! Or if we're talking about what I'm drinking while I'm walking, definitely a homemade pumpkin spice latte (a recipe recently posted on my blog), or a hot chai latte! Or pumpkin beer, of course! When it comes to fall flavored drinks, I really can't choose a favorite!

I really can't thank these ladies enough for how amazing they've been. I was off my game in September and they were so wonderfully understanding. You need to go follow them everywhere you can ASAP.

What are you currently up to?

    1. That's what we are thinking it will be! We think she needed to be in her house so she could be comfortable with him, and we are taking them for walks together so she learns he's in the pack now. We're pretty sure she's anxious because he's huge, and she's feeling a little territorial.

    1. I'm in love with him! He is SO giant. He's as tall on two feet as I am and his shoulders are the height of our dining table on all fours. You definitely need a dog!! Also he was a clearance puppy haha his adoption fee was almost nothing and he came with 3 years worth of heartworm and flea meds, and lifetime free vaccinations.

  6. Lincoln is such a cutie! Adding a second dog to our family is one of the best things we have ever done. They have the best time together, and I don't feel so bad when we are away from home all day knowing they have each other.

    1. Lincoln has completely stolen our hearts. He's like an enormous snuggly toddler haha I think he and Daisy will get along really well once she figures out he's not scary just because he's six times her size. We've been wanting another for months and months but it wasn't the right time yet, and the big thing coming up actually made it perfect timing!

  7. Your new pup is so precious! And I'm the same way... somehow I totally "miss" a work day because I get all confused over what day it is!

    1. I genuinely woke up thinking today was Wednesday and we had small group tonight, and then it was Thursday and small group was last night and we missed it because I woke up thinking it was Tuesday yesterday and somehow never caught on to the Wednesday thing. We LOVE Lincoln already. I'm pretty sure he's forever...two week trial? That was a joke...there is no way I can have a dog home for two weeks and then give him up.
