but first, i'm your wife. community brew vol. 2 + sponsor introductions

Dear Husband,

I know sometimes I get caught up in running around doing errands, chores, paying bills, working, being a friend, being a daughter, being a blogger, being just about everything. I know there are days you feel like you're the furthest thing from my mind. And while I may not be focused on you in the moment, just know, you may be far from my momentary thoughts, but you are the closest one to my heart.

You rest there with each beat, and while I am flitting from here to there, I'm always looking forward to the moment at the end of the day when I lay my head on your bare chest and listen to your heart beat and think, how lucky am I that I'm the one to hear this sound each night? How blessed am I to lay by your side? How wonderful is it that I am the one you call "wife"?

I may be many many things, and I may be easily sidetracked too often. I may have a million dreams I'm chasing all at once. I may be that free spirit never quite finished, but first, I am your wife. You are the biggest dream, and I'm not done chasing you. We have said our vows, exchanged our rings, built a life together, found our first little house together, been through very hard times together, and you are still my biggest dream. You are still my main pursuit. You are still my greatest love.

So, with each day, with each dream I chase, with each new idea I have and want to try, with each wild fantasy of a tiny house on a trailer we can live and adventure in, or a cottage by the sea, or a cabin in the mountains, or a farm in a valley...no matter the dream, you're the one I dream of sharing it all with.

First, I am your wife. And I am so grateful to be called by that name by your voice.

Love,
Kaitie.

If you had a dream weekend getaway during the summer, unlimited budget, where would you go, who would go with you, and what would you do?
Tough question... there are so many places I'd love to go. I think though, I would forgo a big trip like to Italy and go somewhere like Maine for the weekend! As fun as a weekend in Italy would be, I really think you have to have more time than a weekend to really enjoy a long trip like that. So, I think somewhere coastal like Maine would be just beautiful. I'd go with some of our friends who have been there before so they could show us the lay of the land. We'd eat seafood, go hiking, and chill on the coast and enjoy the views!
*Note from me (Kaitlin)--I went to Maine for 3 days two summers ago and it was the best summer getaway. Go. Like, now.

if i had an unlimited budget, i would definitely have to take a roadtrip around Europe! i would take my husband with me & we would explore all of the countries we can! i would love to explore the Irish countryside, go to the theatre in London, enjoy some nutella crepes in Paris,  see all the colorful buildings in Spain, & much much more!

Hmm, that's a toughy!  If it were a week I'd say Europe hands down.  My husband and I are saving up for a Europe trip as we speak! :)  I'm going to say it's a long weekend Thursday - Sunday, and I would opt for an all-inclusive Cancun/Cozamel/Riviera Mayan trip!  I'd have to take my cute husband and we would lounge by the beach, play some sand volleyball, not be long without a cold beverage in hand, and take an excursion or two!  We'd have to go ATVing and cenote jumping again if we went too.  It's the best.  Man, I'm wishing I was there now!  Who's sponsoring my trip? :)

We've talked for years about backpacking-ish (do I look like I pack light?) through Europe for a few weeks, though Mr. Thomas would surely say we'd be there no less than a month. English tea, French baguettes, and Italian wine would be on a constantly revolving basis along with sight seeing, coast enjoying, and, of course, all the tourist things. I'd come home pounds heavier, memories stronger, and ready to book my next trip back.

I would go to Savannah with my husband! Ever since I read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, I've been dying to go and see all of the sites--and eat lots of good food! I would definitely want to stay somewhere historic.

    1. I made him take a break during his shift today to go read it because I didn't want to wait until he got home tonight! :)

  5. But first, I am your wife.

I love. Sometimes that's a reminder that I've got to tell to myself every so often. First, yes FIRST, I am your wife before anything. Challenging and frustrating as that can be sometimes.

Also, EVERYONE SHOULD JUST GO TO EUROPE NOW. Because, obviously, that's where it's at. :)

    1. SO frustrating sometimes. But always worth it. I never regret putting him first, but I usually regret forgetting his needs.

And YES. Let's all go to Europe. I'm sure all of our husbands will be friends since they all married these crazy ladies who have internet friends they haven't met in real life before. They can bond over how strange we are.
